בשבת האחרונה מורינו הרב אליעזר ברלנד שליט"א לא יצא לתפילות השבת לאחר שבימים האחרונים לא חש בטוב. במוצאי שבת גבאו ונכדו של מורינו הרב שליט"א – ר' דוב צוקר התראיין לקו המידע ועדכן על מצבו הרפואי של מורינו הרב שליט"א.
לפניכם העדכון כפי שנמסר בקו המידע:
"בשבוע האחרון החל מיום שלישי – רביעי, הרב החל לחוש שלא בטוב, כאשר בהתחלה העניין אובחן כצינון קל, ובפרט כידוע לכל שמורינו הרב שליט"א בעצמו אינו מתלונן על מצבו. אנו, הגבאים, ניסינו לעזור במה שאפשר, כוס תה חם, חימום וכו', אך הרב במסירות נפשו למען כלל ישראל לא שינה מסדר יומו העמוס. החברותות הקבועות נשארו, כמו כן השיעור ביום רביעי אף היה ארוך מהרגיל, קבלת קהל התקיימה כסדרה. הרב אף ערך שלושה חופות בשבוע האחרון ביום שלישי רביעי וחמישי. ההתפרצות של דלקת הראות החלה רק בליל שישי לאחר תפילת מעריב, החלנו להבין שמשהו אינו כשורה לאחר שמורינו הרב שטח בפנינו כי אין מספיק חימום בחדר. כידוע לכל וכפי שהזכרנו רוב ככל המקרים, הרב אינו מתלונן כלל על מצבו. כאשר קורה שהרב כן מדבר על מצבו על הרפואי, הדבר מדליק נורה אדומה אצל כל גבאי בית הרב.
"הרב שליט"א כידוע תמיד מנסה עד לרגע האחרון, וכבר היה מעולם שחשבנו כי הרב אינו במיטבו הרפואי לצאת לתפילות השבת ובכל זאת מורינו הרב מסר נפשו לצאת לתפילות השבת, כך שלא ידענו ביום שישי עד סמוך לכניסת השבת מה יקרה עם התפילות. בהדלקת נרות החלה החמרה במצבו הרפואי של מורינו הרב שליט"א והובן כי לא יוכל לצאת לתפילת ליל שבת. ועל כן עדכנו את הציבור בצפירה הראשונה. לאחר כשעה מכניסת השבת הגיע רופאו האישי של הרב ואבחן את מצבו הרפואי של הרב כדלקת ריאות, במקביל אף החל במתן טיפול תרופתי דרך הווריד, כאנטיביוטיקה ושאר תרופות. כמו כן הבדיקות השגרתיות שנעשו, כבדיקת כליות ולב התגלו כגבוהים מהרגיל.
"כמובן במהלך יום השבת כפי שעודכנו אנשי שלומינו, מורינו הרב שהה במנוחה, ולא יצא לתפילות השבת. מורינו הרב קיבל את הטיפול הטוב ביותר בעזרת ה'. מחר (יום א') צפוי להגיע שוב הרופא לאבחן לאן פנינו מועדות. נקווה שכבר בסביבות השעה 16:00 – 17:00 נוכל לעדכן בקו האם מורינו הרב יצא לתפילת ערבית של יום ראשון".
לקראת סיום הראיון ר' דוב צוקר מוסיף ומחזק להתפלל: "כמובן כמו תמיד מצבו הרפואי של מורינו הרב שליט"א מצריך תפילות, וכעת ביתר שאת וביתר עוז, כל אחד יראה להתחזק להוסיף להתפלל לרפואתו של מורינו הרב שליט"א שנזכה שיחיה עמנו מאות שנים על ממלכתו ונזכה לראות יחד עמו בביאת ינון ובגאולה השלמה בב"א".

Here is the update on the medical condition of HaGaon HaRav Eliezer Berland, shlita:
In the past week, our teacher, HaRav Eliezer Berland, shlita, did not attend the Shabbat prayers after feeling unwell in recent days. On Saturday night, his grandson, Rabbi Dov Tzuker, provided an update on the Rav's medical condition.
As reported on the information hotline: "During the last week, starting from Tuesday to Wednesday, the Rav began to feel unwell. Initially, it was diagnosed as a mild cold, and as is known to all, the Rav himself does not complain about his condition. Despite our efforts to help with hot tea, heating, etc., the Rav, with self-sacrifice for the sake of all of Israel, did not change his busy daily routine. Regular commitments remained, and the class on Wednesday was even longer than usual. Receiving the public also took place as usual. The Rav even held three courts in the last week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The eruption of pneumonia began only on Friday night after the evening prayer. We began to understand that something is not right when the Rav spread his hands before us, indicating that there is not enough heating in the room. As is well known to all and as we have mentioned in most cases, the Rav does not complain at all about his condition. When it does happen that the Rav speaks about his medical condition, it raises a red flag for every member of the Rav's household."
"As is known, the Rav always tries until the last moment. We had long thought that the Rav is not in his best health to go to Shabbat prayers, and yet, our teacher, HaRav, sacrificed himself to go to Shabbat prayers, so we did not know on Friday until shortly before the entry of Shabbat what would happen with the prayers. The worsening of his medical condition was evident during the lighting of the candles, and it was understood that he would not be able to attend the evening prayer on Shabbat. Therefore, we updated the public with the first siren. An hour after the entry of Shabbat, the Rav's personal doctor arrived to diagnose the Rav's medical condition as pneumonia. Simultaneously, he began administering therapeutic treatment through the ward, antibiotics, and other medications. Routine tests, such as kidney and heart checks, were also found to be higher than usual."
"During Shabbat, as our peacekeepers have updated, our teacher, HaRav, rested, and he did not go to Shabbat prayers. Our teacher, HaRav, received the best treatment with Hashem's help. Tomorrow (Sunday), the doctor is expected to come again to diagnose where we are heading. We hope that around 16:00 – 17:00, we will be able to update the hotline whether our teacher, HaRav, attended the evening prayer on Sunday."
As the interview concludes, Rabbi Dov Tzuker adds and encourages to pray: "As always, the medical condition of our teacher, HaRav, requires prayers, and now, with even more strength and more courage, everyone should strive to add to pray for the complete recovery of our teacher, HaGaon HaRav Eliezer ben Atia Berland, shlita, in Tushcha"i. May we merit that he will live with us for many years in his kingdom, and we will merit to see together with him in the coming of the redemption and the complete redemption in the Holy Land."
